This blog post will therefore take a look at 3 reasons why you should integrate social networks into your online marketing plan.

  • Active Monthly Users:
    2.38 billion

  • Active Monthly Users:
    321 million

  • Active Monthly Users:
    303 million

  • Active users: 1 billion

  • Active Monthly Users:
    330 million+

  • Active Monthly Users:
    291 million

  • Active Monthly Users:
    330 million

Besides, it has been found that the top 10 Social Networking websites have about 45 percent of the total number of active internet users as members. This number alone really is argument enough for you to use these websites for internet marketing.

That said, here are three benefits to business owners and internet marketers to use social networks for marketing.

1: Social Networks provide you a large market to sell to

If you have not yet properly integrated social networking in your overall marketing plan, here are some facts to ponder over:

Just imagine these numbers concerning the top social networks for business:

Facebook: With 2.41 billion daily active users, Facebook is the most widely used social platform.

Instagram: Instagram is owned by the same person who owns Facebook, and has 500 million daily active users.

Pinterest: If your business falls within a creative industry or caters more so to females, then Pinterest is where you want to be. Pinterest has 291 million monthly active users, 81% are women, 93% of active pinners said they use Pinterest to plan for purchases and 87% said they’ve purchased something because of Pinterest.

Snapchat: If your target market is largely comprised of a younger demographic, then Snapchat may be one of the more effective social media sites for business for you! There are over 350 million monthly active users, and 203 million daily active users on Snapchat,

YouTube is a video platform that allows users to watch videos and/or upload them. YouTube has 2 billion monthly active users, giving your business the chance to share company content wither over 30+ million daily active users who are likely to watch it.

Twitter is one of the older social media platforms, and it has 336 million monthly active Twitter users.

LinkedIn If your business follows a B2B model, or targets consumers based on job titles, then LinkedIn can be a powerful tool for you! LinkedIn has 303 million monthly active users, most all of which are in the working world or close to it.

The Fox Interactive President said during the Web 2.0 Summit that MySpace has managed to acquire a user base whose number is equivalent to the population of Buffalo. Imagine how large this is. This represents millions of users from around the world that you can sell and market to.

You no doubt see from those numbers that using social networks for marketing purposes can be a very profitable strategy.

Imagine enticing just a tiny fraction of those billions of users attracted to these networks to visit your website and tell me if you’ve not got it made. Besides, you can get these prospects for free or at a small cost. But you’d agree with me that getting this many visitors through other marketing channels can really cost you a lot.

So, these social networks open the floodgates for e-commerce businesspeople by providing you a place where you can market your products to the masses.

2: Social Networks make targeted marketing easier

Social networks users can be broken down into several sub-networks to which an internet marketer can have access.

What’s more interesting, these sub-groups have pre-filtered members and users by demographics. So a business owner can easily pick and choose groups whose members may be interested in what he has to offer. These, they can target with their marketing messages.

You’ll really be amazed by how deep a social network can go. This truly makes it a very fertile ground for your targeted internet marketing efforts.

The heavy lifting is already done for you. So all you’ll have to do is browse over the groups and find people who may be interested in your products and services. Then send them your relevant message.

3: Social Networks have enormous potential for boosting site traffic and sales

If you still consider social networks as a fad meant mainly for social media enthusiast, think again. Most businessmen have acknowledged the social networks’ potential for boosting site traffic and sales. That is why online and real-world (offline) entrepreneurs alike are flocking to social networks.

Not willing to be outwitted, astute Affiliate marketers have long been promoting the products of their affiliate company/network partners in social networking sites.

Therefore must you realize that fad or not, creative and strategic use of social networks can really boost your business’ bottom line.

— A word to the wise —

Given the extraordinary opportunity that social networking sites offer, an internet marketer can easily get carried away by their marketing campaigns.

Remember, however, that as with any marketing method, tact, subtlety and strategy are all necessary requirements.

This is especially true for social networking sites since they are truly not created for marketing purposes. So people are really not there for marketing messages.

Thus, you must never be too blatant in your efforts to sell. It is advisable to create rapport with people first. Then pitch them when they will be amenable to your message.

Even then, you should always couch your marketing pitch in a manner both personal and engaging. Anything other than that will put people off and ruin your chances of engaging with people for business.

That said, good luck in your use of social networks for your internet marketing.

  1. The benefits attached to marketing through social media is simply massive and only people who use it can testify to it. It provides such a medium to reach out to a wider audience and that invariably means getting more recognition and traffic and which will lead to making more money though it. Great post you have here and I will try my best to get more and more involved with making use of social networks.

    • Hello Rodarrick,

Yes, there are enormous benefits derived from marketing through social media. That you say, it is simply massive, is true. Those who master social media marketing will tell you how it provides such a medium to reach out to a wider audience. Where else can one find all these millions of potential prospects using simple means? If you were to do it with a country, imagine how much you would need to spend and what effort would be called for even for just a single state!

Yeah, social media is the only way to get more recognition and traffic. And everybody who works online knows that more traffic= more leads and more leads = more money.

Thanks for appreciating this post too as always and and I encourage you to get more and more involved with making use of social networks. You will only be glad you did!

      Thank you for your comments!

  2. The need to have regular and true traffic on your site helps in so many aspects as an online marketer. There are various means of getting these people to visit your sites, and it ranges from email marketing to creating backlinks. However, a good method that I know to be true is trying social media. Considering a large number of users on social media, it would create so much awareness of ones site to active users of these social media accounts. A nice step in online businesses.

    • Hello Benson,

Which online worker willing to succeed wouldn’t try to have regular and true traffic on their site?

Getting traffic on a website needs methods which I have detailed in the post, but you’re right that you could also use from email marketing to creating backlinks. However, as I detailed in the post and as you observed, trying social media is a good idea. Yes, marketing on social media is a numbers game. As you say, if “done well, you can count on all those people helping to create so much awareness of (as yone’s site to active users of these social media accounts.”

Therefore don’t just share your business on social media. Encourage people to share, like and the like. This way, your business could just go viral!

      Thanks for your comment.

  3. I think the number of people connected on social medias is the greatest reason why business offline and online have to take advantage of social medias. Many business have grown and become way more profitable by using social medias. But you need to be cautious and careful using it, and it’s always better to take courses on how to do it successfully.

    • Hi,

Oh sure, if there weren’t all that number of people connected on social medias, who will have reason to use them for promoting both online and offline businesses? As they say, social media is a numbers game.

Did you know that even every new social media is grown on Facebook and the others? It’s the best way to reach people who count. And especially if you use the demographics, then you’re sure to reach your target audience. And when you do so, you may grow and become way more
profitable, as you so aptly say.

Sure, caution and care are very important when using social media for marketing. All that glitters is not gold, and if one doesn’t know what it takes to use social media for business, one could lose a lot of money, especailly with PPC campaigns. Fortunately agencies exist nowadays to run your social media business for you.

Thanks too for coming to visit and for commenting on this post.
