A template for writing product reviews

This is the structure taught members at Wealthy Affiliate for writing product reviews, an important way to sell affiliate products.

A review is simply a short critical article about companies and products or services.

Why should you write reviews?

Studies show that people desirous to earn or make purchases online are worried about falling victim to scammers. Therefore before undertaking those two activities they do some research online to avoid being scammed. Some of the common phrases that they type in their search are:

  • is X a scam?
  • does X work?
  • X review
  • X complaints
  • is X legit?

For whom should you write reviews?

Of course for online workers and purchasers.

Which reviews should you write?

Two types of reviews.

  • Positive reviews: This is about products or companies that you recommend. Not that there are all good but simply because their good sides heavily outweigh the bad.
  • Negative reviews: This is about companies, products or systems which are scams, often parading as legitimate. The reasons could be that their bad sides outweigh the good; the tools, training, support and price are not so advantageous for people seeking to earn online from home.

What information should you provide?

In each review you could use the following information:

Product Name:
Website address:
Product price:
Name(s) of the product owner(s):
My overall ranking: xx over 100. (The higher the ranking, the more trustworthy the product)

(Product Name) Overview (A general idea of what the product is)

The Good & the Bad

The pros and the cons of the product

The Good:

First, you will tell you what is good about the product, what advantages people can get from it.

The Bad:

Then, what is bad about the product, what are its disadvantages.

Who is (Product_Name) For?

Here comes information about who the product is targeted at and who will benefit from it. You will also let people know if the product is good for beginners/intermediate/advanced users.

(Product_Name) Tools & Training

Information about the tools and training offered.

(Product_Name) Support

The support offered with the product. Is there a community, forum, personal support, do the owners support it?

(Product_Name) Price

Description of the pricing, the levels of pricing, structuring, upsells, etc Are there several price points?

My Final Opinion of (Product_Name)

A final synopsis along with your recommendation

Then, once again you repeat the information given at the beginning of the review, namely:

(Product Name) at a Glance…

Product Name:
Website address:
Owner(s) name(s):
Price:
Overall Scam Rank: xx out of 100

VERDICT: LEGIT/NOT LEGIT (This is where you let readers know if the product/company is legitimate or not. In these reviews, there will be two types of verdicts. In the outright scams, of course the verdict will be NOT LEGIT. In the others you will only issue caution statements)

After all that talking, you will give the opportunity here for visitors to add their comment in the comment box below (which you can do right now about this post).
