Beachbody Review

Today’s article will be a Beachbody review.

Found at number 28 on the list of the top 100 multi-level marketing companies in 2020, they boast an annual income of 863 million dollars and are based in the USA.

They are in the weight loss, fitness, and dietary supplements niche.

We find Beachbody very interesting and unique and we have been looking forward to doing a review of this MLM company.

Who would not love to have the ultimate beach body? Not you, right?

We will be looking at the overall company, their products and business model. And also any pros, cons, and anything else we find that is pertinent to investing in this company.

So let’s get started and see what they are all about!

We know of a place that has everything you need to start a successful home business and they can walk you through it step by step! Just check out our number one recommendation for more info. And the best part is it is free!

The company

Founded in 1998 in Santa Monica, California, Beachbody
is doing business in direct sales in the UK, Canada, and the US. And as of 2017, indirect sales worldwide.

They sell dietary supplements, weight loss products, and fitness products.

Carl Daikeler is the CEO of the company and Jon Congdon is the president. They are considered a multinational company.

Beachbody have established themselves in their niche with many different athletes recommending their products and workouts. And they have great respect in the industry.

There are many reports going around about how this company is considered a pyramid scheme concerning their business plan. So we have read all of the information and will address it in the business model section of this review.

The products

Some beachbody products showing shakeology, portion fix, beachbody performance, and 2B mindset

Their products are about the most well-known and well-established weight loss products in the business. And people claim they work.

With brand names like Body Beast, 80 Day Obsession, P90 X, Insanity and Shift Shop they are the top sellers in their niche.

They also offer different work out plans for not only getting in shape but also staying in shape.

You can purchase DVDs and special workouts like their 21-day plan. They focus on weight loss and the use of their products to achieve this.

We could not find out much about any testing or clinical studies conducted on their products but we do know they are excellent sellers.

The business model

What the company has developed is the idea of turning their distributors into coaches simply by renaming them as such.

These coaches will then recruit new customers and coach them into a healthier lifestyle. They do this by selling them company products. These are exercise programs and DVDs, supplements, meal plans, and the likes.

This is a red flag right away for us.

This is because calling yourself a coach and directing people on how to take care of their body is really not in any of the involved people’s best interests. Besides, in the worst case this could be harmful or even deadly.

It also seems a distributor would be opening themselves up for legal action if something did go wrong.

On top of that issue is the fact that their MLM program is set up exactly the way a pyramid scheme would operate.  And many experts agree.

The average coach lasts about 3 months and over half of their coaches end up making very little to nothing in commissions.

We have to say they do follow the three rules of a good MLM company.

This is with their products first, then the sales, then the recruiting. But they are not offering the kinds of commissions that make this a good fit.

The people at the top of the pyramid make all the money while the lower members do all of the work and this reeks of a scheme.

But it’s time we talked about how to join the company.

You can become a Beachbody coach for between $39.95 and $306.00 depending on what level you want to join at.

Now to us becoming a coach in charge of another person’s exercise plan for this kind of money just does not sound right. And we do not think that any amount of training offered by the company could make this a good thing.

On top of that, after researching what a start-up kit contains, the cost is really for the products in the kit, not for the training.

We did find their products for sale online and this takes the element of being exclusive out of the business program.

The pros

  • Well-established company
  • Well-established program
  • Well-established products

The cons

  • Terrible business plan
  • Too many legal risks
  • Coaches are asked to make medical decisions
  • many legal issues
  • Overpriced products and exercise plans

Our View

While their products are at the top of their market, they are in the diet and supplement niche.

Everyone should know that lifestyle changes and exercise programs will make you lose weight and keep that weight off.

You do not need to pay for a coach and buy overpriced products to accomplish this. It is actually cheaper to eat healthily and exercise than it is to eat junk food.

While people swear by this type of program and you can actually make money working this type of MLM, we are obliged to give them a thumbs down. This is simply on the legal aspect of working this.

We know there will be many who disagree with our Beachbody review. But we cannot give a company that puts its distributors at risk a thumbs up. It would not be responsible on our part.

We hope this review helps you in your quest in finding a good multi-level marketing company to work with.

  1. Hello Akoli, I must say that this review is very helpful and informative. I heard about Beachbody recently so I decided to do a little research, I am glad I stumbled upon your article because now I see it is not worth joining its program. It is obvious that they don’t care much about distributors. Thank you for sharing your knowledge about this, you helped me to make the right decision.

    1. Hello Danijel,

Thank you for finding my review very helpful and informative. I’m happy that my article helped you to decide not to join Beachbody. Why should you link up with people who wouldn’t care much about you? It was my pleasure sharing this knowledge with you. You can find information on other mlm companies on our reviews tab.

  2. I’ve been playing with the idea of joining Beachbody in my mind for quite some long time now. So I am happy that I encountered your review – the more information I have, the better.

I love a lot of Beachbody workout programs, I’ve been doing them for years. But I have never tried their supplements, because I always found them overpriced. You mentioned there are many legal risks involved. In regard to what matter?

    1. Hi Katja,

I’m happy to learn that you have been playing with the idea of joining Beachbody for quite some time now. Yes, you need more information to take an informed decision.

At least you know something about Beachbody and their workout programs. As for me I avoid supplements at all costs, even if approved by the FDA. I can get all my vitamins, etc. from eating a variety of fruits a day. Yes, I said there are many legal risks involved in regard to this quotation from the review:

“These coaches will then recruit new customers and coach them into a healthier lifestyle. They do this by selling them company products. These are exercise programs and DVDs, supplements, meal plans, and the likes.

I hope all is clear for you now?

  4. Hmm… this was a interesting read. Despite the fact that they’re a well established brand I like that you stated things clearly and honestly. I appreciate that!

It’s cheaper to eat healthily and exercise than it is to eat junk food. So I’ll go this route. That’s one of my new year resolutions. First Month accomplished! And I’m excited. I decided that for February I’d enter some type of program. But after reading your review, it won’t be BeachBody.

    1. Hello Ann,

Thanks for finding this an interesting read. It’s not because a company is well-established that everything is okay with the brand.

Yes, while healthy food and exercise will keep away medical consultation and medication costs, junk food will bring problems of health which will bring suffering and expenditures. Common sense recommends to go the first route, which fortunately, is one of your New Year resolutions. Congrats on accomplishing the first month’s! I share in your excitement. For February there are other programs on this blog that you may join.
