Today’s article will be a Lyoness review.

Most people are going to ask what Lyoness is and we did the same thing. And upon further review, we found all kinds of information on this multi-level marketing company.

There are many different stories floating around about this company including some countries claiming it is a pyramid scheme.

We will take a look at all of the information and at the end of this review give it either a thumbs up or a thumbs down, meaning it will either be a good investment or a bad one.

We will be looking at the company’s reputation, their products, how their business model is set up, and how they treat their workers and contractors.

So let’s get started with who they are and where they are located.

The company

Lyoness was established in 2003 in Austria and is active in over 40 countries on six continents. It has an annual income of 1.39 billion dollars and is number 19 on the list of the top 100 multi-level marketing companies in the world.

The name Lyoness was taken from Lyonesse, a Celtic mythological kingdom. They also go by the registered name of Lyconet.

Lyoness is a privately traded company that was founded by Iwan J. Ackerman, Uwe Proch, and Max Meienberg in 2003.

Headquartered in Graz, Austria, they employ 980 people and their chief officer is Hubert Freidl.

They have registered corporations in 59 areas around the world.

As soon as one year after this company was formed, Austria was pointing to them as an example of rising Ponzi schemes and pyramid schemes hitting their country.

This was just the start of many continuing complaints against Lyoness.

We have read of warnings given out by Austrian authorities about privacy violations, deceptive practices, misleading advertising, and even operating an irrelevant shopping network.

The Swiss government has issued a “Hands Off” recommendation for Lyoness and charges of revenge suing of critics who tried to get the word out on how deceptive this company is.

Many of these are from different countries that Lyoness does business in. But there is also an alarming number of negative reviews all over the net created by former marketers and customers.

These are all red flags. But we also understand that it is easy to have legal issues when a company reaches this many divisions. But the amount of negative issues is huge.

The Products

There really is no tangible product besides the Lyconet cash back card. This is used for purchases from participating companies and partner companies.

How this works is people do business with corporations and get cash back from their purchases.

The following are some of the companies in their network:

  • Wilsa Krakow
  • Lech Pozan
  • Lechia Gdansk
  • SK Rapid Wien
  • Jokerit Helsinki
  • Velux EHF Final4
  • Legia Warszawa
  • MotoGP
  • Austrian Golf Association
  • SK Slavia Prsaha
  • andsesfeuerwehrverband Steiermark’
  • Federazione Italiana Golf
  • HC Kometa Brno

When members purchase services or products from participating vendors they receive cashback points and vouchers. These can be used for special sales or deposited into their bank accounts.

This company also boasts that every purchase made by its members and partner members will benefit the Lyoness Child and Family Foundation and The Lyoness Greenfinity Foundation.

The company has sponsored the Austrian Open for 3 years and many different youth soccer and football teams.

The business model

All MLM aspects of this corporation are run under the Lyconet division.

How this business model works is you become a Lyconet marketer. What this means is you build and run your own customer loyalty program.

What you will be doing is acquiring new members to join in what the company calls the International Shopping Community Cashback World.

By doing this the company claims you will be able to build your very own personal and lucrative shopping network.

You will be given two separate accounts, one for cashback and another for loyalty points to be used for personal shopping discounts.

It is free to become a Lyconet marketer and there are tools for sale to help you build your network.

You will get credit for all of the people below you when they purchase products or services at participating companies.

According to the latest studies the average marketer makes under $300.00 a year.

Pros

  • Free membership
  • Cashback for all purchases of up to 10 percent
  • Huge shopping network of partners
  • Shopping Card
  • Huge online presence
  • Discounts for personal shopping

Cons

  • Too hard to make consistent money
  • many legal problems with the company
  • Been declared a pyramid scheme by 4 different countries

Summary

We are mixed in our views of this company. And what really made our minds up were all of the legal problems they have going on.

The number of negative complaints is just too many to think some of them are legitimate.

We realize this comes with owning a large corporation but the numbers are just too big.

The idea of a cashback MLM business does really intrigue us. And we have read reports of some of their marketers making good amounts of money doing this. But the average numbers are way too low.

This sounds like a great part-time deal for people who shop online and use the companies participating merchants. But as a full-time MLM gig, we have to give it a thumbs down.

We want to make sure people understand what they are getting into before they actually join MLM programs. And that is why we do these reviews, for you the reader!

Thanks for checking out our Lyoness Review and please stop by our reviews tab and check out the many other reviews we have available!

We hope you find the MLM program that is right for you and until next time, happy marketing!

  2. Hello Akoli. Nice to see you share this well detailed and informative review of Lyoness in order to help us make well informed decision. What I like about the platform is that it is free to join and does not involve fees. However, the earnings potential is way too low to my liking so I’d have to look elsewhere.

    Regards!

    • Hello there,

It’s always a pleasure for me to share informative on important and not important companies and products to help my readers in choosing where and in what to safely invest. Yes, being free to join is a plus for Lyoness but the low earnings potential is discouraging. So I understand your decision not to join this mlm business opportunity.
