Younique Review

Today’s post will be a Younique review.

Younique is a relatively newer multi-level marketing company that we have been looking forward to researching. This is because of a lot of chatter we have heard on the internet about them.

This company is one of what we call the new age marketing programs that is similar to Avon. It puts more focus on social media marketing which is a refreshing take on the MLM format.

We think this seems to be the future of many MLM companies. It is promising because there are virtually unlimited numbers of customers to go around and the chance of sales is increased tenfold.

What we are going to look at are the basics of MLM programs.

  • The company
  • The products
  • The business model
  • The pros
  • The cons

With so many different MLM companies available we never run out of reviews to write. And we want to stress to everyone to do your homework before venturing into the world of MLM.

Now, let’s get started with taking a look at Younique!

Meanwhile, we would love to share with you our number one recommendation for building a successful online business from home for free!

The company

Younique was founded in 2012 by sister and brothers Melanie Huscroft and Derek Maxfield. It is headquartered in Lehi, Utah.

Derek is the CEO of the company.

They market beauty products and they have 230,000 direct sellers.

The company is experiencing quick growth due to their emphasis on digital marketing.

Younique is quickly becoming a force in the cosmetics niche and will soon be reaching the levels with the likes of Avon.

Coty INC acquired 60 percent of the company in a purchase agreement in 2017 for 600 million dollars. They saw double-digit increases in growth the first year. With that growth steadily declining in 2019 as Facebook instituted algorithm changes, the newness of the deal wore off.

The company is also feeling the crunch of people becoming more cautious about multi-level marketing programs due to the many pyramid schemes being exposed. Needless to say, this is making it so difficult for the good companies that are doing it right to stick out of the fold.

Our feeling is that the old adage “one bad apple don’t spoil the whole bunch” is not always an easy thing to understand for many.

The Products

Youngique has a product line that is all-natural. They even display their ingredients on their products so people can see what they are buying.

The products are mineral-based and 100 percent natural. They are also chemical-free.

The following are examples of some of the many products this company offers:

  • EssyNaturals Eyelash and Brow Growth Serum Irritation Free Formula – ‘Dermatologist Certified’ – Guaranteed Results in Just 3 – 4 Weeks for Longer, Thicker, and Fuller Eyelashes by EssyNaturals
  • Younique Hot Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lash Mascara Black Sealed
  • Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes Plus Fortified with Uplift Plus Enrichi EN Uplift
  • YOUNIQUE ROYALTY ROSE WATER SPRITZ SPRAY TONER 1.35 OZ
  • Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes
  • Younique MOODSTRUCK EPIC Mascara Legendary lashes with a wave of a wand.

There are many reviews favoring the performance of their products. And, as always, a few that say they do not work. But that is to be expected with any product.

We must stress again that we did not find many negative reviews but a multitude of positive ones.

Younique does have a 100 percent money-back guarantee on all of their products.

The Business Model

The business model is pretty straightforward. Potential distributors, who the company calls presenters/hums, buy a starter kit through their website for $99.00

These presenters are then required to buy products from the website wholesale and resell them for a 20 percent profit. This rises to 25 percent after presenters reach their first goal of $1000.00 in sales.

These resellers are encouraged to use social media and any other means to build a downline of customers for their products.

The presenters/hums must buy products every month to maintain their membership.

Younique also encourages presenters to recruit new members. These will hopefully buy a starter kit themselves and then be put in the presenters/hum’s downline.

This part of the business model has a separate commission plan and can get quite lucrative.

Because of the recruitment requirements for increased commissions, the company does have a bad mark as being similar to a pyramid scheme. But all indications are that this is not true. And they have not been bothered by the FTC at all.

There are reports of many people who, when they tried to make a living with this company, failed and ended up dropping them.

That is expected as it takes a certain person to be able to both sell and recruit members successfully.

If this person is you, then this could very well be the company you are looking for to give it a good shot at success!

Pros

  • Strong company
  • Strong product
  • Good business model
  • Good commissions
  • Recruitment commissions
  • Good chance of advancement through your downline
  • Emphasis on social media sales models

Cons

  • High priced products
  • Products are all over the internet
  • Products are listed on Amazon
  • Month to month product purchase requirements

Our take on Younique

This company passes all the requirements we listed at the beginning of this review.

Younique is a time tested company with a good reputation. They offer quality products that they stand behind 100 percent.

The company has a strong business model that offers both generous commissions on the sales of their products first, then commissions on recruiting others second.

We do not however like the fact that they have their products available all over the internet. But this is still a moneymaker in our opinion and people should be able to build their own customer base in a short period of time.

We give Youique a thumbs up and recommend them as one of the safe multi-level marketing companies out there to do business with.

Please share us on social media as we would like to make sure as many people interested in MLM company reviews may see this and pass it around themselves. As always check out our other reviews at our reviews tab at the top of this webpage.

  2. I personally cringe whenever I see the words “multi-level marketing.” I’ve heard too many stories about the negatives of this type of company and how folks have gotten burnt trying to make a quick buck through them. Like you, Wealthy Affiliate would be my #1 recommendation for anyone who wishes to create a successful online business. I’m curious to learn, however, why you say that their products being listed on Amazon is a ‘con’ in your review. Could you elaborate on this?

    • Hello Tucker,

If you cringe whenever you see the words “multi-level marketing”, you’re not alone. Many people do. And you gave some of the big reasons why. Yes, Younique’s products listed on Amazon is a ‘con’ because Younique’s presenters would have to compete with the site in selling. Supposing a big store allowed you to sell their products in your community and gave the same to Walmart a few meters away. Are you going to survive?

    • Hi Jordan,

I’m happy that you found my review worth your while. Sure, businesses like Younique give you the opportunity to work for yourself and get all the benefits you listed. I agree with you that training, incentives and bonuses makes business exciting for people and push them to work harder, since they know the benefits are for themselves.

  4. Hello Akoli. Thank you for sharing this review of Younique. From your review I can see that this company has been around for quite some time now, they’ve grown and the number keeps growing. There must be something that this company is doing that is right and that is digital marketing (just as you have said). It’s nice to see that they’re in the beauty niche. MLM is a nice business model if one knows what he is doing but it is not advisable for a newbie to do MLM because the statistics of those succeeding in it is very low. A proper training from the right source would be just enough to get started on this or other business model.

    • Hello there,

Thank you too for coming to read and especially comment on this review of Younique. Yes, if a company has been around for quite some time, has grown, etc. then there must be something attractive about it. Everything points to the company doing everything right. Yes, newbies shoud stay out of MLM. They should rather do something like affiliate marketing with Wealthy Affiliate where success is assured.
